It’s busy in here! We have thoughts that just show up, sometimes on their own,  often in a train of thought. We talk and listen to other people talking all day long. In conversation, we listen and we think about what to say next. There is a lot of internal talking that goes on, where we chew on something, thinking about what we said and didn’t say, what we’d say now if had another chance. There are feelings we would like to express and can’t for many reasons.

Try this mindfulness practice and inquiry into the mechanism of speech. Tune in to the energy and sensation in your mouth and tongue, vocal chords, and hinges of your jaw. Many people have tense, contracted energy in their jaw. Relax and release that whole energy as you take a break for 15 minutes and bring your attention inside.
